We are excited to provide an in person event for Bay Bridge which will give us an opportunity to meet and build relationships.
Bay Bridge is sponsoring a docent-led tour of Derrick Adams: Our Time Together, as well as art by artists of the African Diaspora and Social Justice-inspired works. The commissioned exhibit features a multimedia wall mural and sculptural installation the artist created specifically for the Museum’s East End. Inspired by Victor Hugo Green’s The Negro Motorist Green Book (published 1936–66), a traveler’s guide for Black Americans during the Jim Crow era, Adams celebrates the rituals of everyday Black life and leisure. The monumental wall mural titled, Our Time Together, includes references to Milwaukee havens’: Gee’s Clippers, Coffee Makes You Black, and the Wisconsin Black Historical Society, as well as photographs from the civil rights movement of the 1950s and 1960s.
In addition to the docent-led tour, your ticket includes the opportunity to explore the galleries and exhibits throughout the museum with an additional Community Dialogue pass for a return visit for two adults and four children (17 and under).
Tickets for this special event are $16, and Bay Bridge is sponsoring $6 of each ticket. Children, ages 17 and under are free, courtesy of Bay Bridge.
Your $10 event fee, which benefits the Milwaukee Art Museum’s Education Department, includes the docent-led tour of the exhibit, access to the museum’s galleries, passes for a return visit, and a life and soul-enriching experience. Join us!
