Bay Bridge Seeks Student Leaders in Support of Social Justice

Bay Bridge is a 501c3 nonprofit based in Whitefish Bay. Founded in 2019, Bay Bridge’s mission is to create a community that is welcoming – one that recognizes systemic racism, and actively works to address and dismantle it.

We are seeking local middle and high school students who are interested in social justice to engage with Bay Bridge and the community. The goal of this program is to center youth as leaders in addressing issues impacting their lives and to help them build collective power to create meaningful change.

Student Leaders are passionate about social justice and creating meaningful change in their schools, community, and the world. They’re excited about opportunities to hone their skills and to take action around issues they care about.

Student Leaders share relevant events, planning, and action steps with the purpose of increasing community engagement and advancing systemic change. Students choose priority action projects to implement each semester based on issues impacting them and their community. They receive $250 stipends per semester. Responsibilities include attending a 1.5 hour monthly meeting, scheduled based on students’ availability. Some independent time may be required to carry out a priority action project. Graduating seniors can apply for a $1000 scholarship regarding their work toward social justice.

Please submit a paragraph essay of why you are interested in advancing social justice in the community along with your name, school name, grade level, phone number, and email address to BayBridgeWisconsin@gmail.com with a subject line of “Student Leader” by April 1, 2024.
